A Class 7 license is a learner’s permit in Alberta. It allows new drivers to practice driving under supervision before getting a full license.
Alberta has several driver’s licenses based on experience and vehicle type. A Class 7 Learner’s License is for new drivers. After completing the learner stage, drivers move to the Class 5 GDL (Probationary License). Once all conditions are met, they can apply for the Class 5 Full License, which allows unrestricted driving. Alberta also offers Class 1 to Class 4 licenses for commercial drivers, with Class 1 covering large vehicles like semi-trucks and Class 4 for driving taxis or ambulances.
